Superb. Exquisite. Outstanding. Remarkably excellent.
For those of us who have had sizable exposure to classical music, and who have become emotionally distraught from having heard (and played) the same Bach, Beethoven, and Vivaldi compositions far, far, too many times, it is quite wonderful to hear music from different composers, and, far more wonderful is to hear the music from surely the world's best cellist: Hille Perl.
For we unfortunate souls in North America, we rarely get to hear of European musicians. I myself only discovered Hille Perl's music about a year ago, and I have been busy researching and buying her CDs ever since. Importing the CDs from Germany is not cheap nor quick, but still worth the costs.
While waiting for another title to arrive from Germany, I am currently listening to Perl's Marian Marais while writing this article. The music is so very good, even my wife is enjoying listening to the album (which is reason enough to smile because she has no taste for classical, nor is she shy about informing me that she does not like the other cellists within my music collection).

Perhaps the first thing I most noticed of Hille Perl's music was that it had depths of emotional content. All musicians express their own emotions (knowingly or not), but Perl's emotions were deep, of widths, and of a texture that I had never heard before: very comfortable to listen to.
While researching her albums, to find the ones that I want to purchase, I came across an interview of Hille Perl speaking about the historically significant cello that she was using. There, there, it was there where I found the answer of her music's emotional qualities: Hille Perl's voice is as superb as her music (if not more-so). Without going into specifics, I will simply state that Hille Perl's superb English is wonderful of tone, with hints of Spanish and, of course, German. The emotioned tones of her voice described the soul behind her music, a soul that I interpret to be very beautiful. Hille Perl's spoken voice is a greater music than what I have ever heard from a singer. Yes I am intensely impressed.
There are many, many good musicians in the world, but, there is only one known whose inner music is as beautiful as their outer music: Hille Perl.
